Elva's Story

My name was Elva Jean Henry back in 1974 when I graduated and the last name remains the same. I came close to getting married in 1990 but the man that I fell in love with 13 years prior had married another woman that I knew nothing about. His Mother who was also like a Mother to me is one who told me. No wonder he never returned any of my phone calls. So therefore, I'm the "Owner of a Lonely Heart.". Enough said that my said love life if you could call it that. In January 1994 I was accepted at LeToruneau Unversity (North Dallas Campus)in their Bachelor of Science degree program in Business Management. I completed the accelerated (L.E.A.P) which means LeTourneau Education for Adult Professionals in September 1995 and graduated December 16, 1995 with a 3.65 GPA. On July 20, 2009, I started my first at American Intercontinental University Online to pursue the 10 month Master of Business Administration degree program in Organizational Development & Psychology. Graudation will be May 2010 in Houston. I always wanted to be a Archeologist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. I always wanted to be a Banker when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. I blow off steam by yelling out loud and people think that I've lost my mind. My favorite way to relax is to close my eyes and meditate by tuning out all the people and things that caused me distress. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have prayer, read my Bible, and have a little with God to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero was Jesus Christ because although people mocked him and there were those who beat him umercifully, He never said a mumbling word. This is the person gave me the inspiration to realize that when someone who really doesn't know me, treats me bad, say nothing and try to keep my head up high even though they've hurt me. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Lawrenece Ray Martin, because he was my first love.. My obs...Expand for more
ession is with Science Fiction shows like Star Trek, Stargate Atlantis, an even that intergalatic Time Lord, Dr. Who. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the living room and add on a sun room. My dream home would be a house overlooking Wakiki Beach, Hawaii.. If I won $100 million, I'd give 20% of it to my church to pay off the mortgage, then spend the rest on paying off bad debt, investing in Bank of America Stock and taking a 2 week Royal Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Destiny Cruise Ship. My best friend would tell you I'm a wild and crazy woman, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as being gentle as a lamb. Yes, that is a very true statement because I'm still a conservation dresser and still try not to wear any clothing that is too revealing. I share my home with me, myself and I, which I find hard to believe. In 10 years, I hope to be married and living in Hawaii. I'm going to get there by finding to time to do more traveling and meeting new people outside of the state of Texas. The friend that I met about 2 months ago was one of my best friends, Diane Gowans-Ellis from my home church. We became friends when I first joined the church back in October 1977. After I left that church in February 1996 we had not seen each other over 10 years. My first job was at National Bank of Commerce of Dallas, where I got paid $950.00 a month to be a File Clerk II. What I remember most about it is that my Supervisor's Manager after 6 months of employment, gave me a $1,000.00 a month salary increase which I was very excited to have received the first time. The childhood memory that I will never forget is when I was in the 2nd grade at Julia C. Frazier Elementary School located in Southeast Dallas, I was in the auditorium watch President John F. Kennedy on TV in the motorcade parade in Downtown Dallas when he announcment was made that he had been shot. I was hurt that someone had done to such a nice man. Then the news report came back that he had died. I was very saddened and even watched the funeral procession on TV.
